Orlando Pirates are looking to strengthen their full-back positions following the departure of Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, and the retirement of Innocent Maela. With a clear need for reinforcements, they’ve now turned their attention to one of South Africa’s most promising young defenders—Neo Rapoo.
But Pirates won’t have it easy. Their Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly entered the race to sign the 19-year-old SuperSport United left-back. Rapoo recently impressed on the international stage, helping South Africa’s U20 side claim the AFCON title, and his performances have also caught the eye of overseas scouts, with interest from clubs in Scandinavia and the Gulf.
However, sources at SuperSport confirm that both Pirates and Chiefs are pushing hard to land him. Rapoo is viewed as a potential future Bafana Bafana regular, making him a hot commodity on the local transfer market. Chiefs see him as a solution to their long-standing issues at left-back, while Pirates are looking to rebuild after letting go of their experienced defenders.
