Kaizer Chiefs appear to be exploring an unexpected route as they gear up for the 2025/26 PSL season — by targeting two outgoing players from their fierce Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi Making a Move for Paseka Mako
According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be in advanced talks to sign veteran defender Paseka Mako, who is on his way out of Orlando Pirates. The 31-year-old, known for his versatility and experience, could soon be donning the black and gold of Amakhosi if negotiations go as expected.
“SABC Sport can exclusively reveal that former Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako could be heading to Naturena,” reported respected journalist Mazola Molefe. Sources close to the situation claim that talks between Chiefs and Mako are progressing positively, with the Glamour Boys having already tabled an offer.
Thabiso Monyane Offered to Chiefs
In another interesting development, the representatives of Thabiso Monyane have reportedly offered the player to Chiefs. The right-back has struggled for game time at Pirates this season, making just five appearances in all competitions. Despite having nearly 100 matches under his belt for the Buccaneers, Monyane seems to have fallen down the pecking order.
Now, with Pirates possibly ready to part ways, Chiefs could present him with a new opportunity — one that offers more minutes on the pitch and a fresh start.
As of now, Kaizer Chiefs have not officially commented on either player, but if both deals go through, it could mark a dramatic shift in the Soweto Derby dynamic.
