The future of Monnapule Saleng at Orlando Pirates remains one of the biggest enigmas in the PSL right now.

The 27-year-old winger hasn’t featured in any league matches since last November after disagreements over his salary demands, which the club refused to meet. It looks increasingly likely that Saleng will leave during this winter transfer window. But with coach Jose Riveiro now gone, there’s speculation he might be holding off until the new manager is announced.

If the incoming coach favors Saleng, he could not only negotiate a better contract but also regain a regular spot in the starting lineup. Pirates are definitely a stronger side with him in it. However, after six months of tension, many fans and insiders feel the relationship has run its course.

Only time will reveal where Saleng will be playing next season.

A Promising Young Talent on the Radar

Meanwhile, reports suggest that both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are targeting SuperSport United’s left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new campaign.

“Both Pirates and Chiefs are keen on signing Neo Rapoo,” an insider shared. “His leadership as captain of South Africa’s U20 squad, which won the Africa Cup of Nations, has caught the attention of clubs in Scandinavia and the Gulf. But sources close to Matsatsantsa confirm that both Chiefs and Pirates are serious contenders for the promising full-back, who is viewed as a future senior national team mainstay.”

“With Pirates having released Paseka Mako and lost Innocent Maela to retirement, their interest in Rapoo makes perfect sense. Chiefs, on the other hand, are eager to fix a defensive position that has troubled them for seasons.”
