While Kaizer Chiefs haven’t officially announced any new players yet, the club has been quietly working behind the scenes to strengthen their squad ahead of a busy upcoming season.

Next month, Amakhosi will head to the Netherlands for their pre-season training camp, where they’ll face several friendly matches. Fresh off their Nedbank Cup victory, Chiefs are preparing for the demands of the CAF Confederation Cup next season, which means coach Nasreddine Nabi will need a deep and versatile roster.

Chiefs Eyeing Young PSL Talent

Recently, Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with SuperSport United defender Ime Okon. The 21-year-old is reportedly eager to explore opportunities abroad but could be a valuable addition if Chiefs push hard to bring him in.

Currently, the Chiefs’ defensive line includes Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel, and Given Msimango, while young Aden McCarthy has been promoted from the reserves, adding more options at the back.

Contract Updates and New Deals

Another defender, Zita Kwinika, who didn’t get much game time earlier in the season, impressed towards the end and is reported to have signed a new deal, securing his stay for another year.

Meanwhile, winger Asanele Velebayi — a player Chiefs pursued last year but missed out on — is now believed to have joined the club, adding pace and creativity on the flanks.

Who’s Leaving Amakhosi?

On the departures front, Kaizer Chiefs missed the deadline to extend Yusuf Maart’s contract by the end of May, making him a free agent. According to insiders, players rarely want to leave Chiefs unless pushed out, so Maart’s future might depend on club decisions.

The club has already said goodbye to Njabulo Blom, Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, and Edmilson Dove as they reshape the squad for the new campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs are clearly working hard behind the scenes to build a competitive team capable of challenging on multiple fronts next season.
