Kaizer Chiefs are casting a wide net in their search for new talent ahead of a major squad overhaul—and a familiar name has re-emerged on their radar.

The club is preparing to part ways with several senior players, opening doors for fresh additions. One of those could be Steven Mendes, a former academy standout who may soon be heading back to Naturena.

Mendes Set for Naturena Comeback?

Mendes, once one of the most promising talents in the Chiefs development setup, was snapped up by Swedish side Hammarby Fotbol. Now, after spending a season in Europe, reports suggest the teenage midfielder is considering a return to South Africa.

According to iDiski Times, Mendes could be reunited with the Glamour Boys, specifically their DStv Diski Challenge (DDDC) team, where he originally rose to prominence.

“Steven Mendes, who previously impressed in the Chiefs academy before moving abroad, is now expected to rejoin the club’s reserve team,” reported Goal.

If all goes according to plan, Mendes could be back in gold and black before the 2025/26 season kicks off—adding youthful energy to the Chiefs’ long-term plans, as the senior team also gears up for a series of high-profile signings.
