Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a crucial off-season rebuild as they look to bounce back stronger in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign. Despite lifting the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi’s overall league form left much to be desired, finishing outside the top eight for the second season in a row—something the club is determined to change.

New Faces Expected Across the Pitch

The club has been linked with a wide range of players as they aim to restore their status as one of South Africa’s top football forces. In attack, strikers like Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Robert Polievka have emerged as possible targets. On the flanks, names such as Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela, and Keletso Makgalwa are on the radar. Chiefs are also said to be in the market for creative midfielders, with Feisal Salum, Rowan Human, and Sipho Mbule reportedly under consideration.

Defensive Reinforcements Already Arriving

So far, most of the confirmed activity seems to be happening in the defensive department. Chiefs are believed to have secured deals for Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Aphiwe Baliti, and Ime Okon—signings aimed at addressing one of the team’s weakest areas last season. The full-back trio of Monyane, Mako, and Baliti brings much-needed depth and quality to both flanks, especially after Reeve Frosler’s injury left the backline exposed.

Chiefs Cool Interest in Mabuya

Earlier this year, Amakhosi were strongly linked with Richards Bay’s right-back Lwandile Mabuya. However, those talks appear to have died down following the acquisition of Thabiso Monyane. According to FARPost, Chiefs have decided to move on from the deal, believing the right-back position is now sufficiently covered. Mabuya had long been on Chiefs’ radar thanks to his standout performances for Richards Bay over the last two seasons.

With more signings and departures expected in the coming weeks, Chiefs fans will be keeping a close eye on how the new-look squad shapes up under the club’s new direction.
