Kaizer Chiefs have their sights set on two wingers they’ve been chasing for a while.

Asanele Velebayi and Oswin Appollis are the players Amakhosi hoped to sign last season but missed out on both. Now, with fresh opportunities presenting themselves, it’s down to Chiefs to make their move.

Velebayi is a free agent after Cape Town Spurs were relegated from the National First Division. Meanwhile, Polokwane City looks ready to part ways with Appollis, who struggled through a disappointing latter half of the season.

According to SoccerLaduma, talks between Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly well advanced.

Interestingly, Chiefs have been hesitant to pursue Velebayi aggressively, despite him topping their wishlist last year. They may still decide to make a move, but nothing is certain yet.

Neo Rapoo: Another Young Talent in the Mix

On a related note, Chiefs are also tracking teenage defender Neo Rapoo from SuperSport United. The promising left-back is weighing his options between Chiefs and their rivals Orlando Pirates.

A source revealed both clubs are eager to sign Rapoo ahead of the new campaign. His strong performances leading South Africa’s U20 side to the Africa Cup of Nations title have even attracted interest from Scandinavia and the Gulf.

With Pirates having recently released Paseka Mako and seen Innocent Maela retire, their pursuit of Rapoo makes sense. Chiefs, on the other hand, see him as a potential solution to their ongoing struggles at left-back over the past few seasons.
