Kaizer Chiefs are actively exploring multiple transfer targets as they look to bolster key positions ahead of the new season. While no deals have been finalized, several names are gaining traction behind the scenes.
Chiefs Weighing Move for Ighodaro
In their quest to fix their long-standing issues in attack, Chiefs have been keeping tabs on Etiosa Ighodaro. The Nigerian striker, who impressed during his loan spell at AmaZulu, remains a serious option. However, Chiefs could face a stumbling block—Russian outfit Baltika has reportedly entered the race and submitted an official offer for the 23-year-old. With Mamelodi Sundowns still owning his rights and his market value pegged at around R28.5 million, the Glamour Boys may find themselves priced out.
SuperSport United Duo on Chiefs’ Radar
The Soweto giants are also reportedly interested in SuperSport United’s left-back Aphiwe Baliti. At 23, Baliti offers versatility, having featured in 15 league matches last season and capable of playing on either flank of the defence. Chiefs have long struggled to find a consistent solution at left-back, and Baliti may be seen as a long-term fix.
Mokwana to Stay in North Africa
Despite previous links with Kaizer Chiefs, Elias Mokwana’s camp has dismissed speculation around a possible return to South Africa. The Bafana Bafana winger is said to be content in North Africa, where he’s currently plying his trade with Esperance. This season, he’s tallied six goals and four assists across 34 appearances in all competitions, proving to be a consistent contributor.
