The wait is almost over for Kaizer Chiefs fans. With the transfer window officially opening this week, the Soweto giants are finally expected to confirm a host of new signings — ending weeks of speculation and excitement among the Amakhosi faithful.
30 June: Contracts Expire, Announcements Begin
Sunday, 30 June marks the expiry of many existing player contracts across the league, clearing the path for clubs to announce new arrivals. For Chiefs, this means unveiling up to eight new signings ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
The new additions are expected to include two familiar names from rivals Orlando Pirates: Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako, as well as Ethan Chislett, who joins from English club Port Vale.
Who’s on the List?
According to multiple reports, Amakhosi have completed deals for:
- Three full-backs
- One central defender
- One winger
- One attacking midfielder
- Two centre forwards
The signing spree is part of a major squad overhaul under the club’s new technical leadership, aiming to rebuild the team into title contenders.
Chiefs Poach from Pirates and Beyond
Monyane and Mako reportedly opted not to renew their deals at Orlando Pirates, opening the door for Chiefs to swoop in. Chislett also left his club in England on a free transfer.

Rounding out the signings are:
- Asanele Velebayi, a 22-year-old winger from Cape Town Spurs
- Etiosa Ighodaro, a striker previously on the books at Mamelodi Sundowns
- Flavio Silva, a Guinea-Bissau international who last played in Indonesia for Persebaya Surabaya
