Kaizer Chiefs are planning a major overhaul up front, and head coach Nasreddine Nabi is personally driving the mission to bring in proven international attacking firepower.

Nabi pushing for goals

One area where Chiefs have consistently fallen short is in the final third — scoring goals. Throughout his first season in charge, Nabi made no secret of his frustration over the lack of finishing. That’s why it’s no surprise to see the Soweto giants now being linked with several high-profile forwards.

Top of the wishlist is Fiston Mayele, the DR Congo striker who lit up the CAF Champions League this season and finished as its top scorer. Mayele, who played under Nabi at Yanga SC, now plies his trade at FC Pyramids and won the continental title with them. Their past working relationship could play a key role in a possible reunion.

Another familiar face on Nabi’s radar is Feisal Salum, a talented attacker from Tanzania with a strong record of both goals and assists. Sources suggest Nabi has personally reached out to the player, hoping to convince him to make the move to Naturena.

Chiefs revive interest in Mokwana

But the recruitment drive doesn’t stop there. Reports from Tunisia indicate that Chiefs have reignited their interest in Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana, currently with Tunisian giants Esperance.

According to Nessma Sport, Amakhosi are closely monitoring Mokwana’s situation, awaiting a decision from the club’s leadership. With Esperance preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, any decisions on player movements are expected only after the tournament.

Chiefs previously had an offer for Mokwana rejected, but the player has hinted in interviews that he remains open to joining the Soweto side in the future — keeping the door wide open for a potential move.
