After a challenging season, Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a rebuild under their new Tunisian coach, Nasreddine Nabi, with plans to bring in fresh talent.

The team ended the Betway Premiership in ninth place, but they still managed to lift the Nedbank Cup — their first major trophy in ten years.

Chiefs have been linked with several players, including Sipho Mbule, the 27-year-old midfielder who recently became a free agent after Mamelodi Sundowns decided not to renew his contract.

Mbule joined Sundowns in 2022 from SuperSport United but struggled to make a lasting impact over three seasons. Last year, he was loaned out to Sekhukhune United, but his stint there was marred by disciplinary issues that eventually led to his contract being cut short.

Mbule’s agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that Chiefs have been offered the player, saying:

“To be clear, Sipho Mbule has been put forward to Kaizer Chiefs. It’s now up to the club to decide, and we respect whatever choice they make.”

On the international front, coach Nabi is actively scouting talent beyond South Africa. He has reportedly traveled to Egypt and Tanzania in search of quality signings. One standout on his radar is Feisal Salum, a creative midfielder from Tanzanian giants Azam FC. Salum, 27, caught attention last year with his impressive performances against South Africa’s national team, Bafana Bafana.

Locally, Chiefs are also linked with Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako, who was recently released after seven years and over 100 appearances for the Buccaneers.

Another Buccaneers player potentially on the move is winger Monnapule Saleng, who hasn’t featured for Pirates since December 2024, sparking speculation about his future.
