With the new season fast approaching, Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to shake up their squad to improve on last year’s disappointing league finish. Despite lifting the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi missed out on the top eight for the second year running—a result that has prompted calls for fresh reinforcements.

Targets Across the Field

Chiefs have been linked to a variety of players who could help bring back the club’s winning form. Up front, names like Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Robert Polievka are reportedly on the radar. On the wings, prospects such as Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela, and Keletso Makgalwa have caught the eye. Meanwhile, creative midfielders like Feisal Salum, Rowan Human, and Sipho Mbule are also believed to be under consideration.

Focus on Defensive Reinforcements

So far, the bulk of confirmed activity has come in defence. Chiefs are thought to have secured signings for Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Aphiwe Baliti, and Ime Okon. These defensive additions are expected to trigger some departures as the club reshuffles its backline. The arrival of the three full-backs—Monyane, Mako, and Baliti—should provide much-needed depth and stability.

Dillan Solomons’ Future Looks Bright

Defensive struggles plagued Chiefs last season, especially on both full-back flanks following Reeve Frosler’s injury. Njabulo Blom was initially tasked with covering right-back but his form dipped, opening the door for Dillan Solomons to make a late-season push to save his spot.

According to FARPost, Solomons’ recent performances might have secured his place in the squad. With no strong alternative in that role—especially since Blom reportedly prefers midfield—Solomons, who signed a four-year deal in 2022 and still has a year left, looks set to remain as Chiefs’ third-choice right-back, competing with Frosler and new signing Monyane.
