Orlando Pirates have put a hefty price tag on their young Bafana Bafana standout, Relebohile Mofokeng, as interest from Israeli clubs heats up. The Sea Robbers are asking for €1.5 million (around R31.1 million) for the 20-year-old winger — but is that figure showing more caution than confidence?

Rising Star in Demand

Mofokeng, just 20, has been a revelation for Pirates this season, making 49 appearances across all competitions. He contributed 12 goals and 15 assists, making him one of the team’s most exciting attackers.

Now, Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv are reportedly vying to sign him. Haifa, who finished third in the Israeli league, have been tracking Mofokeng closely and see him as a key addition for their UEFA Conference League campaign.

Tel Aviv is also in the mix, attracted by his impressive performances both for Orlando Pirates and in the CAF Champions League.

A Price Too High?

Reports reveal Pirates are not just asking for €1.5 million but also a cut of any future transfer fee — a demand that might complicate negotiations.

With strong interest on the table, some wonder if Pirates are being too cautious, potentially risking a lost opportunity by pricing themselves out of a deal.

Pirates Preparing for a Squad Refresh?

Meanwhile, sources like @UnplayableZA suggest Pirates are ready to announce up to eight new signings, including players like Sihle Nduli, Kabelo Kgositsile, Tshepo Mashilone, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, and Tshepang Moremi.

Will this fresh talent offset the potential loss of Mofokeng? Time will tell.
