Wandile Duba was among four players absent from Kaizer Chiefs’ first training session following the end of the 2024/25 season, as he was still competing in the COSAFA Cup. The others missing were Mduduzi Shabalala, Bruce Bvuma, and Aden McCarthy.

The club granted them extra time off to properly recover before they travel to Europe for their pre-season tour, where they will face Dutch side FC Utrecht.

What’s the latest on Saleng?
Earlier this month, reports claimed Monnapule Saleng had signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs, but neither the player nor the club has confirmed this, making it more of a rumor than fact.

AmaKhosi have their eyes on several forwards, including Orlando Pirates target Laurindo Depu Aurelio.

“A source revealed, ‘Both teams had scouts watching the player and were impressed with what they saw. Kaizer Chiefs reportedly want to use their defender Inacio Miguel to help negotiate with Depu and his representatives. Orlando Pirates are also interested but for different reasons.’”

Another insider added, “It seems Chiefs are hesitant to pursue Feisal Salum due to his high asking price and are now considering Depu instead. The challenge is that Depu is currently based in Portugal, but Chiefs hope to leverage Inacio Miguel to bring him to Naturena. We’ll have to wait and see how this develops.”
