Last week, Kaizer Chiefs were linked with yet another big-name winger — Mihlali Mayambela, who currently plays for Aris Limassol and is also a Bafana Bafana player.
The 28-year-old Khayelitsha-born winger seems eager to make his way back home to South Africa after spending nearly a decade in Europe since he left as a teenager.
According to iDiski Times reporter Sinethemba Makonco, Mayambela is very interested in joining Kaizer Chiefs — a club where he once played at the under-15 level.
READY TO RETURN TO THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP
Mayambela, who now shines for Aris Limassol and Bafana Bafana, is reportedly open to a move to the PSL, with Chiefs as his top choice.
Before heading to Sweden’s Djurgården at 18, he played professionally in South Africa’s Motsepe Foundation Championship with Cape Town All Stars.
Since then, Mayambela has traveled the world playing in places like Portugal, Israel, and Cyprus, gaining experience across various leagues.
This season with Aris Limassol, he’s made 23 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists.
SIBLING TEASES BIG MOVE
In the meantime, his brother Mark Mayambela — a well-known player who’s featured for teams like Orlando Pirates, Bloem Celtic, and Cape Town City — hinted on X that Mihlali’s transfer to Chiefs might be happening soon.
Currently in Europe working on his UEFA A coaching license, Mihlali shared a throwback picture of himself from his Kaizer Chiefs under-15 days, quoting the iDiski Times report, fueling the excitement.
