Makhaula has now been with Orlando Pirates for 30 months and is being recognized for his hard work throughout the recently concluded season.
At 35 years old, he featured in 44 matches, bringing valuable experience not just in midfield but across various positions on the pitch.
Reports suggest Makhaula will extend his stay with the club for another season, meaning he’ll still be with Pirates even after turning 36.
Although he finished last season sidelined due to injury, he is expected to return in time for pre-season training at the end of June.
Makhaula’s career has flourished in his 30s, with stints at Highlands Park, AmaZulu FC, and now Pirates.
Interestingly, just over ten years ago, he was working as a cleaner for the BOSASA Group at the Lindela Repatriation Centre in Krugersdorp.
His big break came when he moved from local amateur side Trabzon to Free State Stars back in 2014.
Meanwhile, Pirates are also developing young talents like Simphiwe Selepe in central midfield, alongside Goodman Mosele, who is eager to cement his place with consistent performances.
