There’s growing uncertainty around Relebohile Mofokeng’s future at Orlando Pirates, with his father openly pushing for a move abroad.
The 20-year-old rising star continues to attract serious attention, with clubs like FC Cincinnati (MLS), Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek, and even European sides such as Barcelona and Rangers keeping tabs on him. Earlier this year, Pirates reportedly turned down a R25.8 million offer from Zamalek. However, they’ve now placed a R31 million price tag on the winger, signaling they may be ready to negotiate.
His father, Sechaba Mofokeng, hasn’t held back about his hopes:
“My dream is for Rele to be playing overseas in the 2025/2026 season. I pray for it every day. I don’t want him in the Betway Premiership again next season,” he said.
Sechaba believes Rele is ready for Europe, saying he could thrive in top leagues across Spain, England, France, or even Switzerland — and made it clear he’s not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia just yet.
“He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he’ll miss that experience. Money is great, but happiness and growth matter more.”
