Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the opponent and venue for the second edition of the Toyota Cup, which is set to take place just a week after the team returns from their pre-season tour in the Netherlands.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Soweto giants announced they will face off against Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko in what promises to be a high-profile clash. The match will be hosted at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“We’re proud to welcome our friends from Ghana to South Africa,” said Jessica Motaung, Chiefs’ head of Marketing. “Asante Kotoko are part of our rich shared football history. The Toyota Cup is about unity, legacy, and celebrating African football. Hosting it in Durban, the home of Toyota SA and our Nedbank Cup triumph, makes it even more special.”

Asante Kotoko come into the fixture with a legacy of their own, boasting more than 50 major trophies—including two CAF Champions League titles and 25 Ghana Premier League championships. They narrowly missed out on the title last season, finishing third—just five points off the top.

Chiefs, on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back after a humbling 4-0 loss to Tanzanian side Young Africans in last year’s edition held at the Free State Stadium.

As with tradition, the Toyota Cup will also double as a showcase for the club’s new 2025/26 kits, with both the Home and Away jerseys set to be unveiled and worn—one in each half of the match.
