Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC has instructed all players whose contracts are nearing their end to report for pre-season training by Wednesday. However, Dan Ndhlovu, Sydney Malivha, and Thuso Mogale were nowhere to be seen on either Wednesday or Thursday—raising eyebrows at the club.
Rumours suggest the trio may have already signed with DStv Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United, despite still being contracted to Baroka until June 30.
“I haven’t seen any of those players at training,” said Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele in an interview with KickOff.com. “They’ve essentially walked away from the club. Their contracts are still valid until Monday, and by not reporting for duty, they’ve breached those terms.”
Mphahlele added that players with valid contracts were all expected back by Wednesday—unless prior arrangements had been made.
“Those who had no special agreements were supposed to return as part of their obligations. Now they’ll disappear and turn around to accuse us of not paying them. How do we pay people who aren’t even showing up to work?”
He issued a final warning: “If they don’t return by tomorrow, we’ll issue letters. Continued absence will lead to disciplinary action—and possible dismissal.”
