In today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer update, there’s news on club captain Yusuf Maart’s future, a rising youngster making waves at Naturena, and a surprise scouting mission in Europe.

Maart Set to Remain at Naturena

Yusuf Maart will continue to wear the gold and black for another season. The 29-year-old midfielder, who joined Chiefs from Sekhukhune United in 2022, remains a key figure in the squad. Last season, he featured in 27 league matches, playing a central role in the middle of the park. According to @UnplayableZA, Maart has been offered an extension and is expected to anchor the midfield once again in the new campaign.

Rising Star: Thulani Mabaso

One name catching attention at Naturena is young Thulani Mabaso. The left-footed defensive midfielder has impressed the technical team enough to earn a spot on the pre-season tour squad. Chiefs are clearly investing in youth, and Mabaso looks like a player to watch.

Chiefs Eye Angolan Forward in Europe

Meanwhile, Amakhosi scouts have their eyes on 25-year-old Angolan striker Laurindo “Depú” Aurélio, who currently plies his trade in Serbia. While his club stats from last season weren’t impressive — zero goals and one assist in 24 league matches — he did catch the eye with his performance for Angola in the COSAFA Cup against Bafana Bafana. Chiefs are still weighing whether he fits their plans.

Off to Europe: Chiefs Pre-Season Tour Set

The Glamour Boys are heading to the Netherlands for their pre-season tour from 3 to 19 July, where they’ll prepare for the upcoming campaign. The tour squad will include both senior players and promising youngsters — even George Matlou, whose inclusion may surprise some, is set to travel.
