Orlando Pirates’ rising star Relebohile Mofokeng has just wrapped up another impressive season, fueling transfer rumors once again.
Beyond his steady performances for Pirates, Mofokeng also made his breakthrough with the Bafana Bafana national team last season, raising his profile even more.
Last season marked a step up for the young attacker at Pirates. He even attended trials with English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, although nothing came from that opportunity. Despite that, interest in him only grew, with clubs like Glasgow Rangers, RB Salzburg, and African giants Al Ahly reportedly keen on signing him. There were even whispers of a possible move to Barcelona B, but no official deals materialized, and Mofokeng stayed with Pirates.
After a season where he notched 12 goals and 15 assists, his father, Sechaba Mofokeng, is confident his son is ready for the next big challenge.
“Everyone’s calling. Sometimes I can’t even eat because the phone won’t stop. But we’re not rushing anything. It’s about timing and readiness. He’s done what was expected here. Now it’s time for him to challenge himself — new league, new people, new pressure. He can play anywhere, even for Barcelona or Real Madrid. He’s not afraid, he just needs his chance,” Mofokeng Sr told iDiski Times.
