Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with a mix of local and international talent over the past year.
Despite signing players like Thabo Cele and Gaston Sirino last season, Chiefs still finished a disappointing ninth in the 2024/25 league.
With the new season just over six weeks away, coach Nasreddine Nabi will need a solid budget to bring quality reinforcements to Naturena. The team is set to head to the Netherlands for pre-season training before returning home at the end of July to play several friendly matches.
Who are the players linked to Kaizer Chiefs?
Recent reports suggest Chiefs are close to signing Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, both recently released by Orlando Pirates.
Meanwhile, Chiefs have already released five players: Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, and Mduduzi Mdantsane.
Who might join Amakhosi next?
One player expected to join is Asanele Velebayi, a winger from Cape Town Spurs. Chiefs have been interested in him for two years. Last season they tried to sign him, but Cape Town Spurs refused despite Velebayi’s desire to leave.
Another player linked to Chiefs is Ime Okon, a former SuperSport United defender now a free agent. However, he reportedly wants to move overseas.
Local and international targets
With two foreign players leaving, Nabi has more flexibility to sign new players from abroad. The coach has been given freedom to pick who he wants.
