Mamelodi Sundowns face a crucial showdown against Fluminense in their final Group F match at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The PSL champions, nicknamed ‘The Brazilians’ in South Africa, will go head-to-head with the actual Brazilian side, Fluminense, on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, with kickoff at 21:00.

This match is a thrilling battle of two teams known for their exciting, attack-minded football. Both Sundowns and Fluminense have netted four goals each in their opening two games, showing why this game promises plenty of action.

For both teams, this is a must-win encounter. A defeat means immediate elimination, while a draw would knock Sundowns out due to goal difference. Essentially, Sundowns need all three points to keep their tournament hopes alive.

On top of pride and progression, there’s also big money at stake. Sundowns have already earned over R200 million across three FIFA Club World Cups in the USA, including a R170 million participation fee and R35 million for a previous win. Another R35 million prize awaits if they beat Fluminense, though a draw would still bring nearly R20 million — but it’s not the result they want.

The stakes couldn’t be higher as Sundowns aim to keep their ‘Brazilians’ legacy alive on the world stage.
