Kaizer Chiefs have decided to extend Zitha Kwinika’s contract following a strong finish to the 2024/2025 season. The dependable centre-back, who rejoined the club in July 2022 on a three-year deal from Stellenbosch FC, has earned the club’s trust once again.

A product of the Chiefs academy, Kwinika left Naturena in 2016 and gathered valuable experience across several PSL teams, including Chippa United, Thanda Royal Zulu, Bidvest Wits, and Stellenbosch. His standout performances at Stellies, where he won Player of the Season, convinced Amakhosi to bring him back.

Kwinika’s resurgence at Chiefs was marked by 28 appearances in his first season back. Though his game time dropped to 18 matches in his second season, he stepped up when it counted. Despite the arrival of new defenders Inacio Miguel, Rushwin Dortley, and Bradley Cross, Kwinika struggled for minutes early on—especially with Cross even playing at left-back. However, injuries to Miguel and Dortley gave him a chance, and he delivered strong, commanding performances that earned him a key role.

On the flip side, midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane has left the club after an underwhelming spell. Signed from Cape Town City in June 2023 with high hopes, Mdantsane’s progress was stalled by a serious car accident early in the 2024/25 season, which kept him sidelined and impacted his impact at Chiefs.
