Kaizer Chiefs have a golden opportunity to strengthen their squad without spending a cent, but the club is taking its time before making any moves.
Midfielder Asanele Velebayi and ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star Sipho Mbule, both currently unattached, have been presented to Chiefs by their respective agents. Despite the potential value these players could add, Amakhosi remain undecided — possibly holding out for other targets in the transfer market.
Backup or Plan B?
While both Velebayi and Mbule offer quality and depth, there’s a feeling that Chiefs might only turn to them if preferred signings fall through. For now, the club appears to be keeping its options open.

Rowan Human, a standout midfielder from AmaZulu FC, has also been made available after choosing not to renew his contract with the Durban-based side. The 24-year-old will officially become a free agent on July 1, and has reportedly been offered to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
“Rowan Human’s camp has approached both Soweto giants as the player prepares to leave AmaZulu at the end of June,” a source confirmed. “He’s shown flashes of his best form again, and as a free agent, he’s expected to attract interest quickly.”
