Kaizer Chiefs Say Goodbye to Edmilson Dove — The Defender’s Heartfelt Farewell

On Tuesday, Kaizer Chiefs officially announced that they will not be renewing the contract of defender Edmilson Dove, which expires at the end of June.

The Mozambican international joined Amakhosi in August 2022, following a brief stint at UD Songo in Mozambique. Over three seasons, Dove became a key figure for the club, making 56 appearances and even captaining the team on several occasions. He also contributed two important goals during his time with the Chiefs.

Dove’s Farewell Message to Kaizer Chiefs

Taking to social media, the 30-year-old defender shared an emotional goodbye to the club and its supporters.

“1 – Dear Dr. Kaizer Motaung, thank you for welcoming me and my family into the Amakhosi family and allowing me to live a childhood dream,” Dove wrote. “This journey has been intense, and I’ve grown both as a player and as a person.”

He reflected on the highs and lows of his time at the club:
“We experienced ups and downs, shed some tears, but also shared unforgettable joyful moments that I will always cherish.”

Dove expressed gratitude to everyone involved with the club:
“2 – To every coach, teammate, kit manager, gardener, kitchen staff, and everyone I’ve had the pleasure to work with, thank you. Every day spent together was meaningful, and the bonds we created are unbreakable.”

He also thanked the fans for their constant support:
“3 – To the faithful supporters, thank you for standing by us through thick and thin. Your dedication and love never went unnoticed. You are deeply appreciated.”

Finally, Dove honored his family:
“4 – To my family, you are my light during dark times, my reason why. Thank you for always being by my side.”
