Kaizer Chiefs have been connected to several high-profile players from rivals like Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana, and other PSL clubs. They’ve even been scouting talent from some of Africa’s biggest teams.

However, it turns out that a few of the biggest stars linked to Amakhosi won’t be making the move.

Chiefs Not Chasing Percy Tau

Although Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau is reportedly open to a return to the PSL, Chiefs have decided not to pursue him. The club has learned from past mistakes with players like Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat, and so they’re steering clear of Tau.

Interestingly, Tau recently hinted he might end up at their rivals, Orlando Pirates.

Fiston Mayele Looks Elsewhere

Another key target, Fiston Mayele, seems unlikely to join Chiefs or any PSL club. His brother revealed that Mayele is done with South African football.

“He doesn’t want to come back to the PSL anymore, so I’m surprised Chiefs are still being linked to him,” Mayele’s brother told KickOff.

He added that Mayele had previously been interested in South Africa, but obstacles like age and finances put him off. Even big clubs like Pirates and Sundowns couldn’t convince him to stay.

Mayele is now focused on a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, where his salary would triple compared to PSL offers.

“At his age, he needs to secure his financial future, and Saudi Arabia is the best option for that,” his brother explained. “Talks with Saudi clubs are already underway.”
