Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly closing in on signing Paseka Mako, the 31-year-old left-back who just left Orlando Pirates a day ago. After months of targeting the left-back position—initially hoping to secure Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien—Amakhosi seem ready to pivot and bring Mako in on a free transfer.

According to sources, talks between Chiefs and Mako have reached an advanced stage, and a deal could be finalized soon, making him one of the new faces at Naturena for the upcoming season.

Mako, born in Zebediela, Limpopo, had a challenging last season with Pirates, battling injuries and only managing 17 appearances, mostly from the bench. During that time, the left-back spot was often filled by the experienced Deon Hotto and new players like Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Yanga Madiba.

If everything goes smoothly, Mako will join Chiefs as a free agent, bringing experience and depth to their defensive options.

His journey started in Mamelodi Sundowns’ development ranks before making his pro debut with Cape Town All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He then moved through Chippa United and ultimately Orlando Pirates, gaining valuable top-flight experience along the way.
