Kaizer Chiefs have shown a strong interest in talent from Chloorkop, with yet another Mamelodi Sundowns player linked to coach Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.
Nabi has already secured his fourth signing for the club, officially bringing in players from both Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. But the Chiefs are not done yet, as more Sundowns players are reportedly on their radar.
Chiefs Eye Sundowns Striker
Among the players linked to Amakhosi is striker Thabang Sibonyoni, who is currently attracting interest from three PSL clubs.
According to Soccer Laduma, “Richards Bay FC has joined Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC in the race to sign striker Thabang Sibonyoni, who was with University of Pretoria last season but is actually registered under Mamelodi Sundowns.”
Since Sibonyoni is still a Sundowns player, a successful move would make him Chiefs’ second signing from the Brazilians this season. Nabi and his technical team have clearly identified the need to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
After a disappointing season where Amakhosi’s top scorer Ashley du Preez managed only six goals, the club is desperate to find a forward capable of scoring double digits every year. Chiefs, once the giants of Soweto, are eager to rise again with more firepower up front.
Nabi Brings in Experienced Midfielder
In addition to the striker pursuit, Chiefs have also signed Gaston Sirino, an experienced midfielder.
Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr expressed confidence in Sirino’s addition: “We decided to add experience to our squad by bringing in Sirino. We know his quality and believe he will be a great help this season. We also look forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players,” he said on the club’s official website.
With four new signings now confirmed under Nabi’s leadership, Chiefs are gearing up for a busy transfer window. Several Bafana Bafana players, as well as talents from Pirates and Sundowns, are reportedly linked with the club. On the flip side, Nabi is also considering loaning out four players to other PSL teams.
Amakhosi fans should brace themselves for plenty of player exits and arrivals as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new season.
