Orlando Pirates are wasting no time in fixing some weak spots in their squad, with right-back being a priority area.

One player catching attention is versatile 23-year-old Tshepho Mashiloane, who can slot in both at right-back and in central midfield. Reports suggest Pirates are also close to securing a deal for Baroka’s winger Kabelo Kgositsile, who recently opened up about the upcoming move—an emotional step for him.

“I really wanted to join Orlando Pirates, especially after helping Baroka get promoted,” Mashiloane shared. “But I’m confident my teammates will keep pushing and do well next season. The chairman, Khurishi Mphahlele, has been very supportive of my transfer to Pirates, and I’m grateful for that. I know I’ll need to step up my game to stay competitive. Playing in cups like the Carling Knockout, MTN8, and Nedbank Cup would be a dream, but I understand hard work is key. I have big ambitions at Pirates.”

Is a New Striker on the Horizon?

While Pirates have striking options such as Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa, and Boitumelo Radiopane, there’s speculation they might want a different type of forward. Fiston Mayele’s name has been thrown around a lot, but questions remain whether the club wants to invest in a striker over 30 years old, especially with rumors of a hefty R12 million price tag.

With the season looming, Pirates fans are eager to see how management’s decisions shape the team’s competitiveness on all fronts.
