Kaizer Chiefs have shown strong interest in in-form winger Keletso Makgalwa, but Sekhukhune United are not entertaining any offers — especially from local rivals.
Makgalwa, who’s been in top form this season, has reportedly caught the attention of Amakhosi and even had a post-match chat with head coach Nasreddine Nabi following a 1–1 draw. That moment sparked speculation that a move to Naturena might be on the cards. However, Sekhukhune are having none of it.
From Loan Journeyman to Key Player
Once hailed as a future star at Mamelodi Sundowns, Makgalwa spent years moving between clubs on loan, including spells at Maritzburg United (now Durban City), Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy, and All Stars. It was during the 2023/24 campaign at Upington City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship that he truly found his rhythm, notching up 11 goals and 7 assists.
That breakout season earned him a full-time contract with Sekhukhune, and the 28-year-old hasn’t looked back.
Stats That Speak Volumes
Makgalwa has been a revelation for Babina Noko, scoring 6 goals and supplying 11 assists in his debut season. His contributions were instrumental in helping the club secure a top-four finish in the Betway Premiership, and he’s quickly become one of the standout performers in the league.
With that kind of impact, it’s no surprise Chiefs came knocking.
No Deal — Sekhukhune Draw the Line
Despite the interest, Sekhukhune United are firm: Makgalwa is not for sale — at least not to a local PSL side. This isn’t the first time they’ve taken a hard stance. Last season, Kaizer Chiefs also pursued Elias Mokwana, but the deal collapsed and Mokwana ended up signing for Esperance in Tunisia instead.
A source close to the club explained:
“There were talks about Makgalwa joining Chiefs before, but things didn’t come together. Sekhukhune are clear — they prefer moving players abroad rather than strengthening a local competitor.”
Unless a foreign offer arrives, it looks like Makgalwa is set to stay in Limpopo — for now.
